Ryan Bridge, the 45-year-old co-founder of the patriotic group Raise the Colours, has been charged with 14 offences linked to its campaign of raising Union Jack and St George’s flags across England. He is scheduled to appear in court on allegations that include racially aggravated harassment, threatening behaviour, and assault.
Bridge, who resides in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, led the organisation that brands itself as a grassroots movement dedicated to unity and patriotism. The charges stem from activities associated with the group’s flag-raising initiatives.
The indictment comprises seven counts of using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress. Additionally, he faces three counts of employing threatening, abusive, or insulting conduct with the intent to provoke fear of or actual unlawful violence.
Further charges include two counts of racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm, or distress, one count of racially aggravated fear of violence, and a single count of common assault. Bridge is set to stand trial on these charges in the coming weeks.
