Apple Unveils New Apple TV 4K Featuring Siri AI and Voice-Only Commands

Apple introduced a new generation of its Apple TV 4K streaming device on Monday, priced at $299. The updated hardware includes a more powerful A19 chip designed to support advanced artificial intelligence features, alongside far-field microphones that enable voice interaction with Siri without requiring a remote or a paired HomePod.

The company highlighted improvements in audio performance, noting that users can now achieve a four-speaker surround sound experience when pairing the device with either the HomePod mini 2 or the HomePod 2. Additionally, the Siri remote has been updated with a built-in speaker, allowing owners to locate the lost controller via an audible sound rather than relying solely on visual directions within the Find My app.

A key focus of the refresh is the deeper integration of Siri AI for content discovery. Apple aims to leverage its artificial intelligence across all platforms to offer better personalization and recommendations. Viewers can now pose natural language queries such as “What Apple TV shows won at the Emmy Awards this year?” or ask specific details about series like “Where was Pluribus filmed?”

This launch arrives four years after the previous Apple TV 4K model debuted in 2022. According to Bloomberg, Apple had initially targeted a 2024 release but delayed the product line due to challenges in finalizing its AI-powered Siri capabilities. Competitors including Google and Amazon have already rolled out similar AI-driven suggestion features for their streaming devices in recent years.

Consumers are able to pre-order the new Apple TV 4K starting today, with general availability scheduled for November 13.

  1. AI features four years late? Seems like Apple is just chasing competitors now rather than leading the pack.

  2. Surround sound with HomePod mini 2s sounds incredible. That audio upgrade might be the real selling point here.

  3. Wait, can I really just ask where Pluribus was filmed? That’s the level of detail I need for my movie nights!

  4. Finally! Four years is way too long between generations. Hope the voice control actually works without yelling at the TV.
