Ukraine Accuses Russia of Breaking Trump’s Energy Ceasefire as Tensions Escalate

Kyiv has accused Russian forces of violating President Donald Trump’s recently announced energy ceasefire, revealing that a power plant in the Ukrainian capital was struck following the US leader’s declaration. The Kremlin has not yet confirmed whether any such deal exists.

The diplomatic row intensified rapidly over the weekend after Trump announced on Friday that he was lifting sanctions on Russian diesel exports. The move was reportedly timed to lower global and domestic fuel prices ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted with fury to the sanction lift, labeling the decision “weak” and warning it would generate billions in additional revenue for Vladimir Putin, thereby enabling Russia to wage war with greater intensity. Zelenskyy also stated that the ceasefire was “news to me,” suggesting Kyiv had not been consulted.

In response to Ukraine’s military actions against Russian infrastructure, a disgruntled Trump told Zelenskyy on Saturday to “damn well stop” attacking Russian refineries. The US president went further, claiming that Ukraine required a “new leader” to handle the conflict differently.

5 responses to “Ukraine Accuses Russia of Breaking Trump’s Energy Ceasefire as Tensions Escalate”

  1. So Russia breaks the deal, Trump lifts sanctions anyway, and Ukraine gets blamed? The world has gone completely mad.

  2. Calling for a ‘new leader’ is a direct attack on democratic choice. Does Trump really think Americans support this approach?

  3. If Kyiv wasn’t consulted on a ceasefire, how can they possibly be expected to enforce it? This strategy is flawed.

  4. Sanction relief timed before midterms while a power plant gets hit? The hypocrisy is staggering and frankly disgusting.

  5. This looks like a complete disregard for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Zelenskyy shouldn’t have to beg for basic diplomatic courtesy.
