Prime Video Debuts Full ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Trailer at New York Comic-Con

Prime Video has released the complete trailer for its anticipated science-fiction series Blade Runner 2099 during New York Comic-Con over the weekend. The announcement comes approximately six weeks before the show’s scheduled premiere, following an initial glimpse provided at San Diego Comic-Con back in July.

The panel featured co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer alongside series showrunner Silka Luisa, known for her work on Shining Girls. During the Saturday evening session, Luisa outlined the series’ premise, noting that the narrative is set half a century after the events of Blade Runner 2049. According to the showrunner, the replicant uprising that had been foreshadowed throughout the film franchise has finally occurred, resulting in a victory for the creations over humanity.

Luisa explained that the series explores the implications of this shift, asking what becomes of existence when a species faces its end. She drew a parallel to the original film’s focus on individual mortality, contrasting Roy Batty’s personal struggle for more life with the show’s broader examination of whether humanity can retain its identity during its decline.

Michelle Yeoh portrays Olwen, a replicant facing mortality, while Schafer, recognized for her role in Euphoria, plays Cora. The ensemble cast also includes Hugo Hamlet as Buster Friendly, along with Dmitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi, all in roles that have not yet been publicly detailed.
