Report: Apple’s Smart Home Hub to Be Named HomeView, Shipping in November

Just ahead of its October 13 presentation, new reports indicate that Apple’s long-anticipated smart home hub will be officially branded as HomeView. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the device is designed to function as a central command interface for Siri-controlled home automation, debuting at the company’s “Welcome home” event.

The naming convention underscores the hardware’s primary function as a display rather than a traditional tablet. Gurman noted that the “View” moniker distinguishes it from hypothetical names like “HomePad,” emphasizing voice and Siri interaction over direct touch-based app usage. Consequently, the device will not offer access to the App Store but will instead support a curated list of Apple-approved applications, with users encouraged to utilize third-party accessories via the Home app or Siri.

Physical configurations are expected to include both a countertop model and a wall-mounted option. The stand-alone version will feature a metal speaker base and be available in space gray, silver, starlight, and pink. The wall-mounted variant will be restricted to space gray and silver finishes only.

In conjunction with the hub, Apple is reportedly collaborating with LG and Schneider Electric SE to produce a range of compatible smart home products, including doorbells, thermostats, and outdoor security cameras. These items, along with other third-party gear, will be categorized under the “Apple Home Collection.” Apple also appears to be working closely with LG on these upcoming gadgets as part of a broader smart home expansion strategy.

Beyond the hub, the event is expected to showcase a refresh of the HomePod mini, powered by the new S10 chip, and an updated Apple TV set-top box utilizing the A19 chip. While the HomePod mini and new Apple TV are slated for release on October 30, the HomeView will not become available until mid-November.LG’s contributions are projected to ship sometime later this year.

  1. HomeView sounds like a glorified display. Good to see LG and Schneider joining, though. Apple needs more than just bulbs and plugs.

  2. Siri-centric hub makes sense, but I wish they had just stuck to the HomePod ecosystem. Why the new form factor now?
