Apple’s ‘Welcome Home’ Event Set for October 13; Smart Home Hub and homeOS Expected

Apple is preparing to unveil its latest lineup of smart home technology at an upcoming launch event titled “Welcome Home.” Scheduled to take place in New York on October 13 at 9 a.m. ET, the event is expected to feature a range of announcements centered around the company’s connected home ecosystem.

Industry observers anticipate refreshes to the Apple TV and HomePod Mini devices. Most notably, Apple is expected to introduce a dedicated smart home hub, marking a significant step in its efforts to consolidate home automation. Additionally, rumors point to the debut of a new operating system platform called homeOS, alongside partner device integrations from LG.

Despite persistent speculation, a long-rumored touchscreen MacBook is not expected to make an appearance. According to noted Apple insider Mark Gurman, that device is likely to be announced later in the month rather than during this event.

  1. LG partner devices? That’s a interesting move. Do you think this means Apple is trying to become the Android of smart homes?

  2. October 13 is right around the corner! I’ve been waiting for Apple to take smart homes seriously. Let’s see if they deliver this time.

  3. No touchscreen MacBook? Honestly, relieved. I prefer my keyboards physical anyway. The smart home stuff is more exciting news here.

  4. homeOS sounds promising, but I’m skeptical Apple will open it up enough for other brands. Here’s hoping LG’s integration is just the start.

  5. Finally, a dedicated hub? My smart home setup is still a patchwork of different apps. Can’t wait to see what homeOS brings.
