The first Atlantic hurricane of the 2026 season, Isaias, has left more than half a million residents across the US Gulf Coast without electricity. Alabama and the Florida Panhandle experienced the most significant impact from the storm.
Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, late Friday as a Category 2 hurricane, bringing maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. According to the National Weather Service, the system had weakened to a post-tropical cyclone by early Saturday morning, with wind speeds dropping to 65 mph.
