U.S. Measles Cases Surpass 4,000, Breaking Annual Record

The number of measles cases in the United States has surpassed 4,000 this year, marking a new annual record according to data released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of Thursday, the agency confirmed 4,080 cases nationwide. This figure significantly outpaces the 2,289 cases recorded throughout all of 2025, which had previously been noted as the highest annual total in three decades.

Reports of the highly contagious disease have emerged from most states as well as Washington, D.C., indicating a widespread outbreak across the country.

Sen. Bill Cassidy recently addressed the severity of the illness, stating that contracting measles is “not a kind of victimless experience,” highlighting the serious health risks associated with the virus.
