The ongoing legal battle involving Manchester City is generating significant unease across the Premier League, according to Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola. The club was recently found guilty by an independent commission of multiple breaches of financial regulations, a verdict they strongly deny and have appealed.
Iraola emphasized that the ambiguity surrounding the outcome is the most problematic aspect for the league. “I think the worst thing probably is the uncertainty, that no one knows what’s going to happen,” he stated ahead of his team’s upcoming match against City on Sunday.
While Liverpool faces the prospect of playing a potentially punished City side, the Reds themselves are navigating injury concerns. Key forwards Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo were sidelined after picking up injuries during international duty, limiting Iraola’s attacking options for the weekend fixture.
Despite these setbacks, Liverpool remains unbeaten under Iraola’s tenure, though three draws in their first five league games have left them six points behind the league leaders. The manager expressed confidence that the team can energize the Anfield crowd by delivering a strong performance for their supporters.
