Vulcan Launch Approaches as Nuri Rocket Achieves Fifth Success

United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket is closing in on its next launch window, with the return-to-flight mission currently scheduled for no earlier than October 29. This flight carries an Amazon Leo satellite, and a subsequent Amazon Leo mission is also slated for later this year. If the solid rocket boosters perform as expected, Vulcan may achieve a significant cadence breakthrough in the coming year.

In other launch news, South Korea celebrated another success with its domestically built Nuri rocket. During the vehicle’s fifth flight on Wednesday, the rocket successfully deployed five microsatellites as part of the nation’s first homegrown constellation for national safety. According to the Korea AeroSpace Administration, nine of the ten secondary CubeSat payloads were also released on schedule. However, PERSAT-02, developed by startup Quaternion, failed to separate from the rocket.
