New video footage has captured the dramatic eruption of Taal Volcano, located near the Philippine capital of Manila. The event saw the active volcano send a dark grey ash column rising approximately 4,000 metres above its crater.
In addition to the significant ash plume, observers reported seeing volcanic lightning within the emissions during the brief episode. The eruption highlights the ongoing activity of Taal, one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines, which poses a constant monitoring priority for local authorities given its proximity to densely populated areas.
