At Least 35 Killed in Russian Airstrikes on Ukraine

Ukrainian authorities report that at least 35 people were killed and more than 30 injured during Russian attacks across the country overnight through Thursday morning.

The deadliest single incident occurred in Kramatorsk, located in the Donetsk region, where a Russian airstrike hit a passenger bus. According to a statement released by the city council on Thursday, the strike killed at least 30 individuals and wounded 18 others.

The city council condemned the attack, stating, “Once again, the Russians have struck a location where there is absolutely no military target. A passenger bus. A civilian vehicle. People simply going about their daily business.” Following the incident, public transportation in Kramatorsk was suspended.

This latest violence brings the total death toll from Russian attacks over the past 48 hours to at least 60. The previous day, Wednesday, saw at least 25 fatalities across Ukraine, including 22 deaths in an attack on a residential building in Pryluky. Officials confirmed that four of the victims in Pryluky were children.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the persistence of the assaults despite the prior day’s casualties. “Even after such a brutal attack, the Russians continued striking our regions,” Zelenskyy said on Thursday. “This morning, Russia hit an ordinary public transport stop in Kramatorsk with an aerial bomb.”
