Mecka AI Secures $60 Million in Series B Funding Led by Sequoia

Mecka AI, a startup focused on gathering and analyzing human movement data to train humanoid and other robotic systems, has completed a $60 million Series B financing round. The investment was led by Sequoia, with contributions from Nvidia and Microsoft’s M12 venture fund.

The company, which was reportedly nearing this funding milestone at a $500 million valuation, was established in 2024. Its business model mirrors the role played by data-labeling firms like Scale AI, Mercor, and Surge for large language models (LLMs): providing the human-generated datasets necessary for system training. Mecka compensates individuals for recording routine activities, such as preparing coffee or repairing vehicles, while wearing body sensors and utilizing smartphones.

The move places Mecka in a growing sector of companies collecting real-world data for robotics. Competitors include XDOF, which TechCrunch previously reported was in discussions for a Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation. Additionally, established LLM data platforms such as Scale AI and Micro1 are expanding their operations into the robotics space.
