There is a recurring misunderstanding regarding Googlebooks that the Quick Insert and Google logo keys are novel features. In reality, those keys were introduced a few years prior on certain Chromebooks. However, Googlebooks does introduce a distinct update inspired by Android smartphones from around 2014.
Every Googlebook keyboard now includes the iconic triangle, circle, and square navigation icons on the F1, F2, and F3 keys. These symbols originally appeared with Android 5.0 Lollipop, serving as the back, home, and recent apps buttons before the industry shifted toward gesture-based controls. They remain available as an option on phones running Android 17.
