Microsoft is set to reveal further specifics about the Surface Laptop Ultra during its upcoming Windows and Surface event in San Francisco. The company has promoted the gathering by highlighting “the latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface, and the broader PC ecosystem.” Attendees can expect keynote addresses from CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
The presentation, which begins at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET) and is expected to run for approximately one hour, will be available via livestream on Microsoft’s X, Instagram, and YouTube channels. Engadget’s senior reporters Karissa Bell and Devindra Hardawar will provide live coverage from the venue starting at 10:00 AM ET.
The Surface Laptop Ultra was previously glimpsed earlier this year at the company’s Build developer conference, where it was introduced as the most powerful device in the Surface lineup, powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark superchip. Key specifications include a 15-inch mini LED display capable of reaching 2,000 nits of brightness, Microsoft’s largest trackpad to date, and a comprehensive port selection featuring USB-C, USB-A, and a full-sized SD card reader.
While hardware details have been shared before, today’s event is anticipated to focus on pricing, availability, and additional software capabilities. Industry observers expect announcements regarding Agentic AI features integrated into Windows, a significant step for the company given the mixed reception of previous AI initiatives like Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft faces considerable pressure to deliver on its AI promises following a history of challenging feature rollouts.
Microsoft’s AI promises have been shaky lately. Let’s see if Agentic AI actually delivers this time or just more buzzwords.
RTX Spark finally getting its moment! I just hope the pricing makes sense for a pro workstation.
