Jaguar has officially introduced the Type 01, a significant addition to its lineup described as the brand’s most important vehicle in recent years. Serving as the production version of the striking Type 00 concept, the all-electric four-door grand tourer is touted by Jaguar as its most powerful road car to date.
Despite reports that the concept car’s design chief was dismissed earlier this year, the final production model retains the bold aesthetic that made the prototype so divisive. The vehicle maintains the low-slung profile, elongated side silhouette, and massive 23-inch wheels seen in the original concept.
While the shift to a four-door configuration alters the visual proportions, the core design language remains intact. Enthusiasts hoping for the concept’s Miami pink finish will be disappointed, as that specific color option will not be available for purchase.
Massive 23-inch wheels on a grand tourer? Pray your suspension can handle London’s potholes in those things.
Why keep the same polarizing design if the design chief got fired? Seems like contradictory messaging from Jaguar.
Disappointed it won’t come in Miami pink. That color defined the concept’s entire vibe for me.
Finally! I was terrified they’d water down the design. Keeping the bold look was the only right choice.
