HBO Max and Paramount Plus to Merge into Single Streaming Service

HBO Max and Paramount Plus are set to consolidate into a single streaming platform as part of Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. In a press release confirming the deal’s completion, Skydance—identified as the name for the combined entity—stated that both services will “unify into a single service over time.”

  1. Does this mean we are losing HBO Max entirely? I really hope the interface doesn’t become a mess of competing brands.

  2. Skydance as the new name feels a bit corporate and cold for a content company. What happened to something with more personality?

  3. Finally! I am so tired of paying for five different subscriptions. Why can’t they just make this happen already?

  4. Wow, $110 billion? That is an insane number for a streaming merger. I wonder if the library will actually improve or just get more fragmented.
