Former Prince Andrew Seeks to Invalidate Search Warrants in High Court

LONDON — Britain’s former Prince Andrew has initiated legal proceedings to invalidate the search warrants that authorized police to examine his residences. A judicial spokesperson confirmed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor filed a claim with the High Court in London, with a hearing scheduled for Thursday.

According to a prior report by the Daily Telegraph, Mountbatten-Windsor is arguing that the searches carried out by Thames Valley Police may have been unlawful. He was granted permission to challenge whether the force acted within the law regarding the searches connected to his February arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The arrest followed allegations that Andrew shared sensitive information with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the U.K.’s trade envoy. In the aftermath of these allegations, King Charles III stripped his brother of his royal titles and ordered him to vacate his residence at Windsor Castle, a rare move driven by pressure to address Andrew’s long-standing association with Epstein.

Andrew has faced years of scandals surrounding his relationship with Epstein, which ultimately led to his removal from official royal duties and public life.

  1. I hadn’t realized King Charles had already stripped his titles and removed him from Frogmore Cottage. Does he even have standing to argue this?

  2. Bold move. If the warrants were flawed, it doesn’t erase the underlying allegations against him, though.
