Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been forced to withdraw from the England national team setup ahead of their Nations League fixture against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, BBC Sport can confirm.
The player is expected to endure a recovery period of six to eight weeks after sustaining a quadriceps injury. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined until at least early November.
Scott had made a strong impression during his full debut on Saturday, contributing to a dominant 7-0 victory over Croatia in the Nations League. Despite experiencing discomfort in his thigh prior to kick-off, he completed 70 minutes of action in a central midfield role alongside Elliot Anderson before being replaced.
The timing of the injury presents a significant challenge for both the player and his club. Bournemouth are currently navigating a congested schedule, with nine competitive matches queued up between October 10 and November 8.
England will now need to find a replacement for the squad named to face the Czech Republic later this week.
