Zhuri Targets First Victory as Sky Sports Racing Covers Yarmouth and Wolverhampton

Sky Sports Racing presents a busy Monday card featuring flat racing action from both Wolverhampton and Yarmouth, offering viewers multiple opportunities to follow key contenders across the courses.

At Yarmouth, the feature matchup arrives at 2:25 as Zhuri makes her second career start. The filly, a full-sister to Legacy Link, drops back in distance to seven furlongs after displaying strong form over a longer trip previously. She faces debutant Never An Angel, trained by Ed Walker, who cost 460,000gns as a yearling. Walker boasts a strong strike rate with his two-year-olds this season, sitting at 15 per cent, while Kieran Shoemark is booked to ride the 460,000gns No Nay Never filly.

Also competing for the Walker stable is Faithful, a William Haggas-trained filly with a promising pedigree. She is a half-sister to Bowmark and Italy, the latter a runner for Aidan O’Brien. Meanwhile, James Owen’s Lady Jemima enters as the most experienced runner in the field with three starts under her belt, having produced an encouraging performance at Newmarket recently.

The action moves to Wolverhampton for the 8:30 Race & Rest – Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap, where Powder Monkey aims to secure a hat-trick. After winning at Lingfield in August off a mark of 69, he has steadily climbed to a current rating of 78. Champion jockey-elect Billy Loughnane retains the ride following a comfortable victory that defied favoritism.

Powder Monkey faces stiff competition from Dublin Bay, who won impressively by seven lengths at the track in May but has been handed a ten-pound penalty and drawn in stall 12. Top-weight Alfra Whiteburd also remains a threat; the Ivan Furtado runner secured a three-race winning streak at Pontefract last summer and has four wins on the all-weather surface to his name, though he has struggled to match that form in deeper company since.

At Yarmouth’s 4:05 Haven Seashore Holiday Park Handicap, the top-rated Box To Box and Cuff It are among the leading hopes. Box To Box, now rated at 87, looked in control at Chester before being caught late, suggesting another strong performance is likely despite a five-race winless streak. Cuff It makes light racing experience, having only started four times, and returns to class four company after finding class two too demanding at York.

Other notable entries include Lucky Hero, who has won two of his last three races, and Awwjaan, who is entered for the Irish 1000 Guineas. The day’s card also features the career debut of Endless Quest, a Wootton Bassett filly, at 3:35, while Deauville prepares for a nine-race program.
