Flydubai Suspect Was Incomplete Engineering Student at RMIT, University Confirms

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) has verified that a co-pilot accused of attempting to seize control of a flydubai aircraft was formerly enrolled at its Melbourne campus, though he departed before completing his engineering program. Australian authorities are currently reviewing the individual’s period of residence in the country from 2015 to 2017.

The incident occurred on September 30, when passengers and crew members successfully prevented the alleged attack on a flight bound for Tel Aviv carrying 182 people. Media reports have identified the co-pilot as Hammam al-Hammami.
