How to customize Camera Control on your iPhone

iPhone users can tailor the default behaviors of the Camera Control button through the Settings app. By navigating to Settings > Camera > Camera Control, users access a detailed configuration pane that includes primary sections for Launch Camera and Controls, along with additional minor adjustments.

The Launch Camera feature allows users to designate which supported application opens when the physical button is pressed. While the native Camera app is the default selection, the menu displays other options such as Instagram, Code Scanner, and Magnifier if those apps are installed. Third-party applications may also appear, though some might be grayed out until full compatibility is established.

Within the Controls section, the Camera Adjustments toggle significantly enhances functionality. When enabled, this feature permits light presses or swipes on the button to access various camera settings while the Camera app is running.

Users can further customize supported gestures and manage six specific adjustments: Zoom, Exposure, Depth, Cameras, Styles, and Tone. Each adjustment can be toggled on or off by tapping the checkbox, and their sequence can be rearranged by pressing and holding the three-line menu icon next to each item. This customized order determines the sequence in which adjustments cycle as users swipe the button during photography.
