Halle Berry Faces Child Abuse Allegations from Ex-Husband in Restraining Order Petition

Acclaimed actress Halle Berry is facing serious allegations from her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, who has filed for a temporary restraining order citing child abuse.

In court documents filed recently, Martinez accused the “Catwoman” star of physically assaulting their 12-year-old son, Maceo, on September 26. The petition alleges that Berry jumped on the child, wrapped her hands around his neck, and choked him.

Martinez is requesting that custody be modified to grant him sole custody, shifting away from their current shared arrangement. He argues in the filing that the incident may have traumatized their son, stating that Maceo does not wish to spend time at his mother’s residence following the event.

Beyond the specific incident on September 26, the filing details a pattern of alleged abuse spanning several years. Martinez claims there have been additional physical attacks against their son, as well as verbal and emotional abuse directed at Martinez himself. One specific example cited involves Berry allegedly telling Maceo that Martinez was “a white bitch trying to rob a Black woman” due to child support disputes. She is further alleged to have asked the boy how he felt about such a statement as a Black man.

According to the papers, Berry later texted Martinez to apologize for the comment. However, Martinez wrote that while he does not want to permanently sever the relationship between his son and Berry, he believes they should not interact until she takes sufficient accountability for her actions.

The petition also requests that Berry be prohibited from being under the influence of alcohol or other substances during any visitation with Maceo. An update from TMZ indicates that the parents have been ordered to participate in confidential mediation regarding custody arrangements.

Berry and Martinez were married for two years before filing for divorce in 2015. Berry also has an 18-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Representatives for Berry did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
