England left-back Nico O’Reilly ruled out of Nations League fixtures

Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly has been forced to leave the England setup ahead of their final two Nations League games of the international break because of an injury.

The left-back was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes during manager Thomas Tuchel’s side’s 3-2 loss to Spain. However, he did not feature in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic and has now traveled back to his club for additional medical evaluation.

O’Reilly is now expected to miss the upcoming clash with Croatia on Saturday as well as the return fixture against the Czechs on Tuesday.

England have confirmed they do not intend to召 call up a replacement player.

Lewis Hall, the Newcastle United full-back, stepped in against the Czech Republic and formed a productive partnership on the left flank with Anthony Gordon, who was previously his teammate at St James’ Park.

  1. Injury crises are tough, but at least the squad has depth. Let’s see if the next guy can fill those boots.

  2. Why won’t they call up a replacement? Doesn’t that limit Tuchel’s tactical options for the Croatia game?

  3. Shame about O’Reilly, but Lewis Hall did a brilliant job stepping in. Solid partnership with Gordon.
