Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced on Wednesday that he will continue the state’s suspension of the gasoline tax, citing rising fuel costs driven by the ongoing conflict in Iran.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Braun emphasized that the extension would include additional support for agricultural workers. “Today I announced another gas tax extension with additional relief for farmers,” Braun wrote. “Our farmers have the hardest job in America.”
The decision comes as global tensions surrounding the war in Iran contribute to elevated energy prices across the United States. The temporary suspension aims to alleviate some financial pressure on residents and industry sectors heavily reliant on transportation fuels.
Good move on the farmer relief. Transport costs hit agriculture hard, so this extra support is timely and appreciated.
Does this actually help or just lower prices temporarily while the tax comes back later? Seems like a band-aid.
