Poundland’s executive team is engaged in advanced discussions regarding a rescue bid for the struggling discount retailer, a deal that stands to safeguard more than 11,000 positions.
The negotiations reportedly involve Andy Bond, the former chief executive of Asda, who previously led Poundland from 2016 before moving to its former parent company, Pepco. Bond departed Pepco in 2025 and is now understood to be part of the buyout team striking terms with financial backers.
Speculation suggests the buyout consortium is in active dialogue with potential lenders to secure the funding necessary to take over the business and stabilize its operations.
