Witnesses in western Nepal captured the dramatic moment a government building in Baglung collapsed into the Daram River on Sunday, 27 September. The structure had been left precariously perched on an unstable ledge as massive flooding eroded the surrounding land.
Local ward chair Tej Thapa confirmed to the BBC that authorities managed to evacuate vital documents and computer equipment from the building prior to its collapse. He stated that no individuals were injured during the incident.
The event underscores the ongoing devastation across the region, where landslides and floods have claimed at least 27 lives in recent days, according to Nepal’s national disaster agency. This tragedy comes just weeks after a catastrophic flash flood along the Nepal-Tibet border resulted in 1,400 deaths and left thousands of people missing.
