A man in his 20s from London initiated the arrest of five individuals near RAF Fairford by calling emergency services, according to newly released details about a counter-terrorism investigation. The incident has raised concerns regarding a potential Iran-backed plot.
Authorities confirmed that the individual made a 999 call prior to the arrest of himself and four other men. The group was discovered in close proximity to three vans near the Gloucestershire military base, which serves as a key platform for US airstrikes against Iran.
The phone call was cited as a primary factor in dispatching armed officers to the scene. The arrest of the five men is part of an ongoing inquiry into alleged terror activities linked to Iranian interests.
