Google’s Find Hub application offers a solution for tracking essential paperwork, such as birth certificates and social security cards, without the requirement of attaching a physical Bluetooth tracker. While tagging devices remains the optimal method for locating mobile items, this new integration allows users to record the whereabouts of stationary or difficult-to-tag documents through a partnership between Find Hub and the Gemini AI assistant.
To begin using this feature, users must first ensure that Find Hub is active on their device. This can be accomplished by downloading the dedicated app or navigating to Settings, selecting Google, then All Services, and finally tapping on Find Hub. Additionally, Gemini must be designated as the primary digital assistant within the Google app by accessing the profile icon, selecting Digital assistants from Google, and choosing Gemini as the default option.
Once configured, users can verbally instruct Gemini to save an item’s location. For example, saying, “Hey Google, remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in the vault” will trigger the system to log the information. Gemini will confirm the save and provide a direct link to the entry within the Find Hub interface. Alternatively, users can manually input data by visiting the Remembered tab in the app and selecting Manual entry.
The platform supports rich details for each saved item, including photos of the storage location, specific addresses for cases involving multiple residences or bank safety deposit boxes, and additional notes. When a user needs to retrieve an item, they can ask Gemini, “Hey Google, where did I keep my passport?” The assistant will respond with the most recent recorded location and a link to the Find Hub record, which displays any associated images and notes.
