Manchester City have been found guilty of all charges involving serious violations of the Premier League’s financial regulations spanning a nine-season period, the league confirmed on Monday. The finding comes from an independent commission tasked with reviewing the club’s conduct during the alleged timeframe.
In addition to the substantive breaches, the commission determined that the club was responsible for the majority of charges concerning its failure to fully cooperate with the investigation. The violations were significant enough to result in inflated revenues estimated at approximately £900 million, partly facilitated through what the commission described as sham contracts.
The announcement marks the conclusion of a lengthy legal and regulatory process regarding the club’s financial practices. The league emphasized that the guilty verdicts cover both the underlying financial infractions and the subsequent lack of collaboration with investigators.
