Technics has launched the EAH-A1000, the latest iteration of its premium over-ear adaptive noise-cancelling headphones, with a primary emphasis on minimizing audio distortion. The Panasonic-owned brand introduced the 40mm magnetic fluid drivers in this new model, marking the first time the technology has been utilized in an over-ear design. This innovation allows the drivers to move more freely while curbing vibrations and distortions typically associated with larger speaker units.
To further enhance sound clarity, the EAH-A1000 incorporates an SST-style edge surround, a feature previously found in select Technics speakers. The active noise cancellation system relies on a dual-microphone setup on each side, comprising three feed-forward mics and one feedback mic, designed to adapt noise reduction based on both ambient conditions and how securely the headphones fit the wearer.
Connectivity features include support for the LDAC codec and lossless audio via USB Audio. Notably, the headphones offer multipoint connectivity for up to three devices, a departure from the standard two-device limit seen in many competing models. According to Technics, the battery provides up to 45 hours of continuous playback, though the company did not clarify whether this figure accounts for active noise cancellation usage, which typically consumes more power than passive listening.
