After earlier leaks disclosed a significant redesign and an official teaser appeared on X yesterday, Fairphone has provided The Verge with exclusive details regarding the successor to its original Fairbuds, which were among the first wireless earbuds to feature replaceable components over two years ago.
While the complete unveiling of the Fairbuds 2 is scheduled for October 14, the company confirmed that the new model will maintain the repairability focus that distinguished the original device. According to Fairphone, the earbuds will consist of “seven fully replaceable and modular parts.”
In addition to modularity, the Fairbuds 2 are set to enhance their audio connectivity by incorporating support for Sony’s high-resolution and adaptive LDAC codec, expanding upon the Bluetooth capabilities of the previous generation.
